WASTE HEAT TO POWER In the Turkish market, waste heat is generated by a large group of industries whereas a significant portion remains unutilized. With new equipment and techniques, waste heat can be converted into clean electricity in a financially feasible way: a) Its local consumption is creating another advantage as compared to the centralized power generation which is leading to losses up to 18% due to the transmission and theft in Turkey b) It reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helping industries reduce operational costs and cut pollution at the same time c) From a technical perspective, power generated from waste heat is delivering base loads which can support local wind and solar power generation as well In the Turkish market, waste heat to power is providing a significant market opportunity due to the following drivers: a) Turkey’s energy density is four times the one of Japan and two times of the EU average b) With limited local power sources, TR market is expected to maintain high energy prices c) Turkish manufacturing industry is delivering low to medium level-technology products where the energy bill makes up a significant portion.
